ABOUT THE THEATRE
The Gillian Lynne Theatre (formerly New London Theatre) is a West End theatre located on the corner of Drury Lane and Parker Street in Covent Garden, in the London Borough of Camden.
Many an entertainment venue was on the site from as far back at the 17th Century. However the building we known today was built in 1972. Making it an extremely modern West End Theatre.
Previously named the New London Theatre, The Gillian Lynne Theatre made history in 2018 when it became the first West End venue to be named after a woman. This was in honour of Dame Gillian’s outstanding contribution to musical theatre – primarily as choreographer of the ground-breaking production of Cats, which ran here for over 21 years.
Other smash-hit sensations put on here include War Horse, School of Rock the Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, and Standing at the Sky’s Edge. The Venue currently sees RSC’s My Neighbour Totoro transfer into the West End.
