See The Lion King this Christmas

19 Dec 2018

Disney’s The Lion King is now in its 20th year in the West End and with its amazing costumes, epic story and spectacular musical numbers is the perfect Christmas treat for the whole family!

The Tanzanian setting of the Serengeti Plains is beautifully recreated on the Lyceum Theatre stage to tell the well-known story of the orphan lion prince Simba and his journey with the meerkat Timon and the warthog Pumbaa to reclaim the throne and become King of the Pridelands.

After the animated Disney classic of 1994, Simba’s story is about to return the big screen in the live action movie by Jon Favreau in 2019. Its stage version debuted on Broadway in 1997, only three years after the release of the original film,  and won 6 Tony Awards. The West End production opened two years later at the Lyceum Theatre on 19 October 1999 and has been enchanting London audiences, kids and grown-ups, ever since.

Directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, The Lion King features a score by Elton John and Tim Rice with songs as “Circle of Life”, “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”, “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”.
