Mary Poppins is finally back in the West End! With the official opening
night on Wednesday 13th November at the Prince Edward Theatre, Mary
Poppins The Musical returns to London fifteen years after the original
production first opened in December 2004.
Lead by the third of the Strallen Sisters, Zizi Strallen, in the title
role of Mary Poppins, role that was also played by her sister Scarlett on
Broadway and in the West End, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s multi
award-winning musical Mary Poppins brings to the West End the joy and magic of
a show that cannot be anything but supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! In the
role of Bert we find Charlie Stemp (Half A Sixpence in the West End and Hello
Dolly on Broadway) as The Bird Woman is played by none other than Petula Clark.
Joseph Millson and Amy Griffiths are the West End Mr and Mrs Banks as five boys and five girls
share the roles of Jane and Michael Banks.
The story of the world’s
favourite Nanny and the Banks children, created by PL Travers in 1934, is
adapted for the stage into the book by Julian – Downton Abbey – Fellows. The
spectacular show is directed by Richard Eyre with incredible choreography by
Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear. The original score by Richard M Sherman and
Robert B Sherman includes the famous songs ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ and ‘Feed the Birds’, among
others, as additional music and lyrics are by Olivier award-winners George
Stiles and Anthony Drewe.
What else to say? She says she’s practically perfect in every way, so
why not come and see the wonderful Mary Poppins live on stage! Enjoy Mary
Poppins The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre in London West End and check the
