Mamma Mia Here We Go Again

14 Jul 2018

Mamma Mia! returns to the big screen! Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the second movie based on the original West End musical, comes to UK cinemas Friday 20th July, ten years after the first movie.
Set 5 years after the events of the original musical, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again follows Sophie, now pregnant, in her married life as she deals with the turbulent relationship with her husband Sky, more discoveries on Donna’s past and the first ever encounter with her grandmother, Ruby Sheridan.
Written and directed by Ol Parker, from a story by Parker, Catherine Johnson and Richard Curtis, the new movie features many more songs by Abba and stars most of the original cast, from Meryl Streep to Amanda Seyfied, from Pierce Brosnan to Colin Firth. New additions are Lily James as young Donna and Cher as Sophie’s grandmother.
Obviously, there would be no movie without the original West End musical. Mamma Mia! first opened at the Prince Edward Theatre 19 years ago on 6th April 1999 and is now playing at the Novello Theatre. Written by Catherine Johnson and directed by Phyllida Lloyd the feel-good smash hit musical features twenty-two ABBA's songs and has been an audience favourite for the past two decades!
