9 to 5 at the Savoy Theatre

31 Jan 2019

Dolly Parton’s musical 9 to 5 has finally arrived in the West End for a strictly limited season! The show started previews on Monday 28th January and will run at the Savoy Theatre until 31st August, with press night on Friday 15th February.

Based on the 1980 comedy movie of the same namethat starred Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton herself, 9 to 5 The Musical premiered in Los Angeles in 2008 before opening on Broadway in 2009, where it received four Tony Award nominations.

With original music and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy and Tony award nominated Dolly Parton and direction by Jeff Calhoun, the show features an hilarious book by screenwriter Patricia Resnick. The story is the one of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three workmates who decide to take revenge on their sexist and egotistical boss and reform their office.  An unexpected visit by the CEO, puts their plans at risk.

The West End cast is currently led by Amber Davies, Natalie McQueen and Caroline Sheen, who is playing Violet’s role until late March, when Louise Redknapp is expected to recover from a wrist injury that forced her to temporarily drop out of the show. The company also stars Bonnie Langford in the role of Roz Keith and Brian Conley as Franklin Hart Jr.
