The Lion King is the perfect Christmas treat

28 Nov 2017

Bring the family to see The Lion King in London’s West End this Christmas. The Disney’s classic opened at the Lyceum Theatre on 19 October 1999 and keeps enchanting audiences eight times a week 18 years later!

Set in the splendid Serengeti Plains, the multi award-winning musical tells the epic story of Simba, the lion prince, and his journey to become King of the Pridelands. Forced to face exile and regret, the young lion will meet the hilarious Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog, along with the lovely Nala. In their company, Simba will find the courage to confront his evil uncle, Scar, and claim the throne of the Pridelands.

Directed by Julie Taymor, The Lion King is a sensational fun for the whole family with its glorious staging, breath-taking large-scale puppetry, spectacular colours and stunning effects. It’s a delight for the eyes and the ears as well. The evocative score by Elton John and Tim Rice includes unforgettable songs like “Circle of Life”, “I Just Can’t Wait to be King”, “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”. A theatre classic not to be missed!
