Phantom Cast Change on September 4

Ben Lewis, Kelly Mathieson and Jeremy Taylor will be the new leads of The Phantom of the Opera at the Her Majesty’s Theatre in London West End. They will take over the roles of the Phantom, Christine and Raoul respectively from September 4th.

Ben Lewis reprises the role of the Phantom after having played it in the original Australian production of Love Never Dies, while Jeremy Taylor, who is going to play Raoul, has been previously seen as Fiyero in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria and Galileo in We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre. The role of Christine Daaé marks Kelly Mathieson’s West End debut after many opera credits and a training at the Scottish Ballet Company and at the Royal College of Music. Also joining the cast is Amy Manford as alternate Christine.

The final performance of Ben Forster, Celinde Schoenmaker, Nadim Naaman and the current company of The Phantom of the Opera will be on Saturday 2nd September.

Now on its 32nd year in the West End, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 starring Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the lead roles. Set In the splendid and magnificent Paris Opera House, the hit musical tells the story of the Phantom, a deformed musical genius who hides himself because of his physical appearance and is in love with the beautiful Christine Daaé, a talented chorus girl whom he makes his protégée and raises to the position of lead singer. When the young girl falls in love with her childhood friend and patron of the opera house Raoul, things start falling apart.

The legendary show has enchanted over 100 million people world-wide so far, with its imaginative staging, amazing scenery, breath-taking special effects and the mesmerizing score by Andrew Lloyd Webber that features heart-touching songs such as “The Music of the Night”, “The Point of No Return” and “All I Ask of You”.
